Planting a Dream on the Farm
Many years ago, the Ouchida Farm in Damascus Oregon was a working all-out family effort. Over the years, and due to economic pressures, after its many transitions from berry farm to Christmas tree farm, it finally was a beautiful but barren field. Michael Gordon considered his family’s legacy and thought:
Maybe we can support the land through music, building community, and simply enjoying what we have around us, together. I wanted to share the Farm Fiesta dream.
The Farm Fiesta is possible through the contributions of our friends, neighbors and family. Our performing musicians and our volunteers also deserve huge thanks. Everyone brings incredible talent to the stage, and we are happy to have them. We all believe in music, and trusting in people. Come visit our farm August 9th, and you will find a musical refuge from the city. Revitalize your soul. Love People. Love Music.
Cultivating PDX Farm Fiesta
Michael enlisted the help and passionate activism of his college friend, Jacob Thom, and together the two are realizing the idea in an even more potent way. Farm Fiesta will feature a bike train to get you there, stargazing, a hammock zone, tasty brew, farm breakfast, couch seats and ten great local and regional bands among the Farm offerings.
Jacob carved out some time to lay out the history of the Farm, and how he and Michael are building it to even more amazing and sweet time in this stunning setting. Check out our conversation below. The music you hear inside our convo is from Otis Heat, BTW.
