On Saturday Sept. 7, 2013, a Fundraising Fun Fair will be held in the Rose Quarter District to raise funds for the annual Light the Night Walk. Light the Night is a national event occurring in cities across the country to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Employees of Portland based Compass Oncology will be hosting the event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of their Rose Quarter Offices, located at 265 North Broadway in Portland. Vendors at the event will be selling baked goods and yard sale items, with proceeds going to Light the Night. Activities will include face painting for younger and older kids, hula hoops for fun and fitness, and a car wash.
Local author Susan Reznicsek will be answering questions about the Newfoundland dog breed and selling copies of her book “Gone to the Dogs.” A portion of the proceeds also going to Light the Night.
In 2012, the Portland and SW Washington Light the Night walk raised over $450,000 that were used for funding treatment services and research for blood cancer patients.
