SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT: A TRIBUTE TO BONNIE RAITT
Some of Portland’s finest celebrate the queen of the bottleneck blues.
PORTLAND, OR – August 26, 2015. All Bonnie Raitt songs, all night. Performers include Lisa Mann, Anne Weiss, Bre Gregg, Ara Lee, Shelly Rudolph, David Jacobs-Strain, Mark Bowden, Rich Landar, Dan Stueber, and special guest feature Mary Flower. This show will be a rocking romp down memory lane and an in-your-face authentic blues-soul-folk diva power performance.
What started as a wildly popular one-off show at the Alberta Rose Theatre last year has turned into a five-show tour, including shows at the Historic Everett Theater in Everett, Washington, the Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River and two shows at the Craterian Theater at the Collier Center for the Performing Arts in Medford. Adam East, Talent Buyer for the Alberta Rose Theatre had this to say about the show, “The audience showed up in force ready to hear a night of great Bonnie Raitt songs, and the band knocked it out of the park with a perfectly in-the-pocket concert featuring an array of incredible voices and sublime slide guitar. Everyone went home happy that night.” Click here to watch videos of last year’s show. Click here for musician’s bios and pics.
Bonnie Raitt has not only infused the world with incredible music, but she has also deeply inspired generations of performers and songwriters. She showed women that they could rock just as hard as any man and proved to all people that female players should be taken seriously. Simply put, she changed the face of music. With a combined number of over 100 years of performance experience, this is truly an all-star cast of musicians, all of whom site Raitt as an important musical influence in their life. This rich pallet of singers and players from different genres and backgrounds are joining forces to pay tribute to someone they feel changed the direction of their life – – this will be a powerful show.
