Eric Rosenberg and his wife Jennifer moved to Portland about six months ago with an idea.
They decided to organize Cruiser Rides similar to those they had pedaled in while living in Denver.
The Oregonian reports the idea is a series of weekly summer rides, casual in nature, to allow participants to ride together, make new friendships, and enjoy cycling.
Each ride will have a theme with the first one, set for Thursday, called “Keep Portland Weird.” The following week’s theme will be “Pop Some Tags — Thrift Shoppin’.”
Rosenberg says the Denver Cruiser Rides have drawn as many as 3,000 participants.
There’s no charge, though riders will have to pay for their own food and refreshments.
