If your sweet tooth is not satisfied after a visit to the Hungry Heart, there is something truly wrong with you. This is not your typical artisan bakery. Take for example their most popular cupcake, the Sweet ‘N’ Salty.

A chocolate cupcake filled with salted caramel, topped with a creamy peanut butter frosting and garnished with crisp applewood-smoked bacon. Don’t forget the salted caramel drizzled over the entire concoction. Are you drooling yet?

With a food cart, a mobile catering truck and now a brick-and-mortar location, Hungry Heart is capable of providing for the most discriminating sweet tooth all across the city. The hours when you can partake of these delightful morsels are Wednesday through Sunday, 7 A.M to 7 P.M. at each location. In February, Hungry Heart’s storefront will be open seven days each week.

Jax Button, creator of Hungry Heart, came to Portland by way of Las Vegas and San Francisco with the intention of opening a food cart. The Hungry Heart began in 2010 as a purple step van traveling each day to events and local lunch spots in Portland serving cupcakes. Since that original vehicle, Hungry Heart has grown to include a fixed-location food cart and now the store front in the Montavilla district at 414 SE 80th Ave.

French macaroons, pastries, coffee and are also served at the Hungry Heart brick-and-mortar location. Real ice cream milkshakes can be found at the food cart. It’s fair to say that no matter what you’re craving as a special treat, Hungry Heart will be able to meet your need.
