ViVoce Presents:
East of the Sun, West of the Moon
Winter concert celebrates music from around the world
ViVoce, Portland’s only women’s world music choir, invites the NW Oregon and SW Washington communities to attend their 10th annual winter concert, East of the Sun, West of the Moon. ViVoce will weave songs and storytelling from the Nordic lands, contemporary works by Morten Jannson, Frode Fjellheim, and Christopher Wicks, medieval and renaissance vocal music from Norway, France, and Italy, folk songs from Ingrian, Karelian, and Norwegian cultural groups, and songs from Bulgarian, Anglo-American, and Black-American traditions. With dancing rhythms, evocative texts, fantastical tales, and divine harmonies, this program is sure to be a bright light on a cold winter night.
