This year Revels will transport audiences to the late 19th century, aboard one of the last immigrant sailing ships to cross the Atlantic from Ireland to New York. To properly say goodbye to their past, the travelers decide to hold an “American Wake” aboard the ship. An American Wake was a traditional send-off ceremony for friends and neighbors to say goodbye to those leaving Ireland for America. We’ll be enveloped in the music, dance, poetry and storytelling of the period as the emigrants welcome the light of their new life abroad and remember the land they’ve left behind
Join us Friday through Monday evenings for “festival days” during the hour before the performance on the 3rd floor of St. Mary’s.
We’ll have refreshments, shopping and holiday cheer.
