Pucker Up and Then Tip Your Hat to Uncle Mike!

PRP.FM Food Cart Correspondent Steven Shomler stopped by the studio this morning with this week’s food highlights:

Puckerfest 8:  July 11– 17th at Belmont Station

The 8th annual celebration of Sour, Wild, and Funky Beer begins this Friday July 11 at Belmont Station, 4500 S.E. Stark, Portland, and runs through July 17.

Puckerfest features special beers like Wild Elderberry Ale from Cascade Barrel House, The Passion – a sour creation made with Passion Fruit Juice from Reverend Nat’s Cider – and a Sour Cherry Christmas Beer from Lompoc.

The Italian Market Food Cart

The Belmont Station is home to the Italian Market Food Cart, which you can check out at Puckerfest.

Featuring  the cuisine of South Philly, two of their dishes go particularly well with sour beers: Uncle Mike’s Meatball Sub (ground beef and pork, hand-formed, simmered in red gravy, with sharp Provolone), and The Ellsworth ( a beef brisket sandwich made with roasted tomatoes, sharp provolone and horseradish mayo).

Portland Radio Project Midnight Party at Cartopia – Saturday Night July 26th!

Saturday night July 26 at midnight, Portland Radio Project is going to say goodbye to a true Portland icon – the Cartopia Food Cart Pod located at 12th and S.E. Hawthorne.

Later this fall, Cartopia is likely going to become a construction site. So, before that happens we want to have a party and say good bye!

Save the date: July 26, midnight. And stay tuned for details!
