Sing Your Own Messiah!

Sing Your Own Messiah!

Those who have participated in the past know how moving this performance can be.  And after a few years off the radar, you can now join a “Sing Your Own Messiah” ensemble.

The North Clackamas Community Choir (led by esteemed director John Baker) was tossing around ideas for their Holiday Concert and someone mentioned that, while perusing the internet, they could find only one other sing-along Messiah performance in the metro area.  Many were puzzled, because it used to be a holiday staple, found each year at many venues.

So, they decided to offer it for their Tuesday, December 23, performance at Milwaukie Lutheran Church, located at 3810 SE Lake Road in Milwaukie.

Sing Your Own Messiah Free Rehearsals

If you’d like to participate, there are two FREE rehearsals (important: bring your own copy of “Messiah”) at the church: on Sunday 12/21, 4-7pm, and Monday 12/22, 6-9pm.

There is an admission charge for the actual performance on Tuesday 12/23 at 7pm.  General admission is $10 for singers and audience ($5 seniors/students).

For more information, call 503-654-3790.  You don’t have to sing to attend, but prepare to be uplifted!

Picture a little 8-year-old white girl boogeying down with James Brown while watching The Ed Sullivan Show.Or pretending to play keyboards with Stevie Wonder while he performs "Ma Cherie Amour".That love of the Motown sound morphed over into many genres, especially blues, rhythm & blues, southern rock and funky soul.Although I never did take music lessons I love to harmonize at every opportunity. On my bucket list is to sing backup on a Bonnie Raitt or Gino Vannelli recording - if I live long enough I'm sure it will happen 🙂
