There are zip codes. And then there are SUPER zip codes. And Lake Oswego’s is one of them. The Washington Post is out with a new map that highlights, by zip code, “wealthy living in cloistered locations away from the working class.”

A bit less wealthy, and with slightly fewer college grads than some of the other neighborhoods the Post cites, Lake Oswego’s median income is just over $96,000; nearly 70 percent of adults are college graduates.

Lake Oswego’s 97034 is the only Oregon zip code on the list.

By comparison, Gresham and surrounding zip codes have less than half that median income – about $40,000 – and a college degree rate lower than 20 percent.

Among the Post article’s themes: how resources in the zip code where you grow up influence your economic fate.
