Friday, July 6 ‘Mercy’ Video Release Party at Alberta Street Pub
If you’re wanting music to inspire, go to Alberta Street Pub Friday night for Elke Robitaille’s video release party for her song ‘Mercy.’ Elke wrote the song as a way to find a reason to hope with all that has been going on in the world. She also filmed part of the song’s video during the March for Our Lives event. I was proud to be there, along with filmmaker Robert Parish, and we also feature Elke and JP in our Musicians Rising Up series, here and here.
Karyn Ann will perform at 6, followed by Elke with the full band at 6:30. The video will be shown at 7:30. All guests at the show will receive a Free Download Card for the new single Mercy!
Elke, JP Downer, and Tim Karplus were recently featured on KGW’s Tonight With Cassidy.

Wednesday, July 11 Brothers Billygoat, Mordecai, Toothbone at Holocene
Join us for an evening of immersive avant-pop sounds from these local talents, headlined by the breath-taking stop motion animators and musical duo, The Brothers Billygoat.
The Brothers Billygoat: We live in Portland. It’s nice. We make animations that take forever to create but progress at the same rate as we progress. We like dinner parties and board games.
Mordecai: “Veiled in the sonic shroud of avant-pop’s murky soundscapes, Portland, Oregon experimental Duo Mordecai are forging an incendiary path. Comprised of lap-steel/vocalist Andrew Alexander Endres and violinist Kate Kilbourne the band came together in early 2016, conspiring darkly sweet, beat-driven bangers that fold in R&B swagger, electro mysticism, and pop sensibility.” – Ryan Prado (Portland Mercury/Vortex Magazine)

Toothbone: Toothbone is a 3-piece hailing from Portland, OR. They bring together an array of music from different genres creating a sound completely their own. Toothbone brings an energy to live shows not to be missed. With all members having a background in jazz music, they have strong improvisational ideas about music. Each show has elements that previous shows did not have, a constant supply of new material, and new ideas. No two Toothbone shows are the same.
Toothbone is set to release a new self titled full length album on February 7th, 2018, recorded in Portland, OR with Riley Geare, formerly of Unknown Mortal Orchestra and producer of the new Reptalians album out on Captured Tracks. They will be touring in support of this album in late March through major cities from Austin, TX through Portland, OR.
