It is the journey and not the destination that does the most to define us. Iran to New York to the Rose City is the journey that Victor Darchini took while following the love of his life.

In 2013 Victor moved to Portland from NYC because his wife had a new job in PDX. In June 2013, with encouragement from his wife, Victor started the Caspian Kabob food cart, downtown at S.W. 10th and Alder.

Victor grew up in Iran near the Caspian Sea. The food at his cart is a tribute to the cooking he enjoyed as a child and to his personal philosophy as expressed on the Caspian Kabob webiste. “Caspian Kabob’s mission is to advance cultural understanding through culinary taste. Food, like all forms of beauty and love, transcends religions and politics.”

Listen now as Steven Shomler and Rebecca Webb talk with Victor about Caspian Kabob.
