If you’re looking for a fun band and some nightlife in the very near future, Portland’s own indie-rock partygoers The Quags are playing at Hawthorne Hideaway this coming Friday, October 19.

Lead singer Dennis Mitchell (Brementown Musicians, Crack City Rockers) provides their engaging and entertaining vocals, and the band’s upbeat, danceable style might just be the re-charge you’re looking for.

The Quags newest release is “Another Moment in Time.” It’s their fourth album, and PRP has the title track in rotation.

The Quags are: Dennis Mitchell, main songwriter, lead vocals, guitar; Craig Stahr, guitar; David Bryan Wilson, bass, and Jim Huie on drums. Their musical influences include Small Faces, Curtis Mayfield, and The Kinks.

What’s on deck for the upcoming show in Portland’s hipster Hawthorne district?

“We’re playing several numbers from earlier Quags records, plus three or four songs that have never been released,” says bass player David Wilson. “There’s only two bands for the three-hour show, so both us and The Wilkinson Blades will be playing extended sets,” adds Wilson.

Sound good?

Also from the new album watch for fun and danceable “Enough Already,” as well as “The Last Christmas,” their humorous take on the holidays.

Heavenly Heights” is another track not to miss.

Despite the soul-sick times we live in, The Quags soldier on as true romantics that take a licking but keep on ticking,” says one reviewer.

We agree!

You can find their music online at CD Baby or on iTunes

And catch them live Friday night at Hawthorne Hideaway (a measly 5 dollar cover)!
