The passion for hip hop culture runs deep in Josh, Boyd, and Vince from ADDverse Effects. We’re honored that they shared their passion with PRP’s PDX Rock Block this week. As the only hip hop band in November’s mogo Portland Music Festival, they carry the message of positivism and social awareness in music.

Talk about brave! They rapped improv lyrics to “Rock the Mic” live in our studio over their recorded instrumentals. Thanks for the PRP shout outs AE! Next they bounced into an acappella live rap “All Hail” — a fitting tribute to those who speak their minds about social issues.

ADDverse Effects also named checked Mayor Charlie Hales’ for declaring an official Hip Hop Day in Portland, celebrated on October 15. This event recognized the importance of the hip hop and its influence on music, art, and fashion plus had live performances.

The band’s relevant, current lyrics are stirring. You can’t help but be positively inspired to take action after listening to these powerful songs. Given the devoted hip hop music following in Portland, the promoters J-Fell Presents were smart to include AE in mogo.
