Oregon health officials are looking for a few thousand volunteers. but not just any volunteers, People who have been treated for the deadly cancer melanoma.

This week the Oregon State Cancer Registry sent out letters to almost all of the state’s 30,000 or so melanoma victims asking them to take part in an upcoming study. It can’t come soon enough. Oregon has the nation’s 5th highest rate of melanoma beating out state’s like California, Texas, and Florida.

You can find out more at next weekend’s Melanoma Walk and Health fair scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday May 31, at Wallace Park in Northwest Portland. A dermatologist will be on hand to providing free skin checks.
