Melville Brings Some Love to PRP

A Taylor Made Tunes favorite artist visited Portland Radio Project on a beautiful, sunny Tuesday. Ryan T. Jacobs of Melville dropped in to the studio, brightening up our day even more. Ryan shared details of the upcoming “Under the Covers” show at Doug Fir, being held on Valentine’s Day Eve, Saturday February 13. As described by Ryan, the show will feature “cheesy love songs, indi-fied.”  Melville, along with four other Portland independent rock bands, will perform covers of songs by artists ranging from REO Speedwagon to Hall & Oates. Ryan performed one of his personal covers, the evocative “Stay” by Rihanna.

Ryan also performed a heartfelt solo tune for us. We discussed Melville’s inclusion as one of the “12 Portland Bands to Watch” in the Oregonian. Melville has been busily working on their debut album “The New Zero,” expected for release this spring. The album will include the single “Heart,” which is a favorite on Taylor Made Tunes.
