Whitney Myer is ready for her “close-up,” as a solo artist that is. She’s got MY attention thanks to her connection with Portland soul-man Christopher Worth. Don’t miss a preview of his first single from the forthcoming new album.

At one time The Whitney Myer Band was “a family affair, with vocalist Whitney Myer backed by father Scott Myer on guitar and uncle Fred Myer on drums. Bassist Gia Torcaso — a premier player in Reno, Nevada’s fertile music scene” rounded out this ambitious project..and now it’s time for her to step out on her own.

Whitney caught MY eye here in Portland, because of an upcoming gig on August 23 at Plew’s Brews that Robbie Holmes had the good sense to alert me to:

Christopher Worth hosts a night with Whitney Myer. This is where Soul and Groove come together. Please take time to see this show. The pairing of these two amazing soul singers will be an evening of entertainment that will not be forgotten.

OK, that got my attention. I’m really loving Christopher Worth but wondered, “Who is this Whitney Myer that Christopher is going to host?”

We had a chance to talk earlier this week and you can listen to the chat below and hear all about her incredibly musical life, from kid days to that family band, being on The Voice, and now the road that leads to a solo turn.

Worth’s new album is less than a month away. Take a listen to the first single, below.
