Portland, long known for out-of-the-box eats, now has out-of-the-dumpling snacks making a splash. Eat Street – the Cooking Channel’s nod to curbside cuisine – will feature The Dump Truck, Portland’s dumpling cart, on Thursday.

Co-owners Julia Filip and Reid Barrett met while working Beijing in 2007, and picked up Mr. Ma’s tricks for turning out truly authentic Chinese dumplings – which they apparently missed upon their return to the U.S. Channeling their hunger into an edible enterprise, Julia and Reid now purvey pockets – both traditional  (tender seasoned pork dumplings with green onion and ginger) and, er, creative (everything in a bacon cheeseburger wrapped in a dumpling) – daily, from their cheerful yellow truck on S.W. Alder (between 10th and 11th).

See the Eat Street episode at various times beginning Thursday, July 25.
