Musician, promoter, and community-builder –Jason Fellman stopped by between rehearsals and consultations to share some exciting news with us! He is a very busy man, who always manages to find time to share exciting information and offer helpful advice.

Jason has identified several local musicians, many of whom Portland Radio Project has also had our eye on, as breakthrough artists – bands to watch! He, like all of us who love local music, wants to build a community of skilled musicians and expose the world to our local gems. He is proud to introduce some of his favorites in a festival this November 20 and 21 – the mogo Portland Music Festival. This festival features 20 bands in 2 days at 2 venues.

Jason shared the music of a few of the mogo bands with us. Goldfoot, Mosby, Bart Hafeman, Haley Johnson, Berahmand, and One From Many – just to name a few. Many of these bands were familiar names, as they have been PRP Drop-In Session guests as well!

He also reminded us that the music industry is a challenging one. Creative people are not always good at creating business strategies, and musicians are rarely comfortable promoting themselves. Jason has some good ideas to share. He designed a Music Marketing Meet Up for the mogo bands. After some consideration, he decided to open the free seminar to all musicians, promoters, record label representatives, and the media. Wow! What a great place to learn and network!

We appreciate Jason Fellman taking the time to share with us. His promotion company, J-Fell Presents, has been behind many great local events, including Harefest and Rob Daiker’s recent album release show. The mogo Portland Music Festival will gather an unbelievable amount of talent in one place –Portland Radio Project will be there!
