The soul-powered group has now grown by one more to lucky #NumberNine. Lead guitarist M.D. Sharbatz and newest soul-man Mr. Magic joined us to share news on the first full-lengther, sample some of the fresh and forthcoming sounds,  and what it means to be “Brownish Black”.

The crowdfunding for the first ever, full-length album began last Spring. It’s been mixed and now just has to be mastered. The show coming up at The Star Theater on Friday, February 13?  “Just a tease”, says M.D. They can’t promise, but hope is to release Life Lessons May 1st.

Joe Barrett and I had a sit down with M.D. and Mr. Magic this morning. The Detroit vibe is all over this group, though they all come from many different geographical points. It is a blessing to have this vibrant soul-funk mixture in our town. And Mr. Magic, as you will hear, plans to bring in some of the things HE grew up on: scratch, and plenty of his mad DJ skills. Should take Brownish Black to that next best level, and even further into those soul-filled regions.

Here’s the promo video from Brownish Black’s successful Kickstarter.

…plus, of course, the worthy addition of Mr. Magic.
